Recognizing the need for a coordinating organization for the arts in Pasadena, the Pasadena Arts Council was formed in 1964. The Pasadena Arts Council provides resources, promotional activities and services to arts and cultural organizations throughout the Pasadena area. Recognized as the first "umbrella" arts organization chartered in California, the Pasadena Arts Council received its non-profit status in 1968. Today, with 290 member arts organizations and artists the Pasadena Arts Council provides a cohesive voice for promoting a vibrant cultural community.
