In addition to these programs and services, the Pasadena Arts Council acts as a community resource and information clearinghouse, a convener of networking events and a source for grant review. In its role as an advocate for Pasadena’s arts and cultural community, the Pasadena Arts Council acts as a liaison between the City of Pasadena and the cultural institutions and continually works to bring programmatic and monetary support to these organizations to ensure that Pasadena’s arts and culture scene remains vibrant and active.
The Next Step is an education program dedicated to teaching high school students the business of the entertainment business. This after-school enrichment program provides students at John Muir High School an in-depth understanding of music, television and film production and exposes them to the numerous career opportunities within the entertainment industry.
Bimonthly publication that profiles artists, promotes Pasadena’s many cultural organizations and offers important information on events and opportunities in the area, FREE to supporters and members of the Pasadena Arts Council.
Art & Ideas, a consortium of Pasadena-area arts and cultural organizations and organized by the Pasadena Arts Council, engages the Southern California community by creating provocative issue-based arts collaborations. Art & Ideas is held every two years, and follows the model created by earlier collaborations — "Radical Past" (1999), "The Universe" (2001), "The Tender Land" (2004), and “Skin” (2007). For the 2009 theme, the collaborating partners have chosen ORIGINS, and they will explore and interpret this theme through specially curated exhibitions and programs from October 23rd through November 8, 2009.
EMERGE Fiscal Sponsorship Program
Emerging arts organizations that do not yet have 501(c)(3) designations may apply to the Pasadena Arts Council to act as a fiscal receiver, allowing the organization to seek funding from grant makers, donors and corporations.
Advocacy
The Pasadena Arts Council advocates for increased funding and other support for the arts, works with city agencies and commissions and serves as a communications link on key issues facing the arts in the region.
Distribution of brochures, flyers and other printed materials around the greater Los Angeles area. Additional annual fee for co-op membership.
Pasadena Area Retail Gallery Listing
A list of many of the Pasadena area’s vibrant and eclectic retail art galleries with links to each gallery and information on current shows.
A partnership with the Pasadena Public Library, the online Arts and Culture Calendar allows local organizations to post their events and exhibits, lectures and festivals in the visual, performing and literary arts to a public calendar.

Resources and events for discovering the territory between art and science.
ARTS PASADENA 2009: An Arts Resource Guide
A guide of local resources, support organizations and other essential information designed for working visual, performing and literary artists and useful to organizations and the general public.
Cultural Leadership Council
Bi-monthly roundtable meeting of cultural leaders focused on marketing, cultural tourism and advocacy.
Young Artist Awards are given to high school students who exhibit exceptional promise in one of four disciplines: dance, theatre, instrumental music and visual art.
