The Instrumental Women Project was established to educate the public about the role of women in jazz as instrumentalists; to provide opportunities for instrumentalists to showcase their talents; to develop and support music training programs for female youth; and to ensure that women are recognized for their longstanding roles as master musicians in the historical and current development of the American jazz art form.
